Legal Ledger now provides SMS Messages
Make sure clients are kept informed with SMS
JCS is pleased to announce that SMS messaging is now available through the Legal Ledger.
With Legal Ledger’s SMS messaging you can:
- Send a message to a client quickly and efficiently. It is quicker and cheaper than a phone call/letter
- Have your messages logged and confirmed (through CasMan)
- Send a message to any number that can receive messages (Did you know that as well as mobiles, most land lines can also receive SMS messages? Send a message to a BT land-line phone number and a BT computer calls the client’s number and “reads” them the message)
- We can deliver confirmation from the recipient’s Handset. Our system has a 99.5% accuracy rating for confirming receipt of the message to the Handset.
So what is the cost of setting up the SMS software?
NOTHING. SMS texting service is built into the software. As a Legal Ledger user you will be able to send SMS messages, we simply need to activate an account for you. This is an Internet based service so the PCs being used to send SMS messages must have Internet access.
Do I have to have a monthly contract?
NO. A monthly contract is not necessary. You simply buy a batch of messages and use them when you want to.
How long do I have to use up my messages?
AS LONG AS YOU WANT. There is no time limit. If you purchase a batch of 500 messages and use them over an 18-month period, then that is fine.
Is it expensive to run?
NO, JCS has agreed with its SMS Portal supplier that text messages can be bought in batches. The more you buy the lower the cost per message.

As you can see, the cost per message reduces as the number of messages you buy increases.
So what will it cost to try out?
Choose option 1 above, 50-messages for £10.
That would be your total outlay to try out SMS Text messaging within Legal Ledger.
How do I use it?
You can send ad-hoc messages via a button on the View Matter, View Client or View Contact screens. Type in your mssage, enter a number or select one of the stored numbers.
Alternatively, if you have CasMan (our Case Management module) sending texts can be partially or wholly autimated. CasMan logs all messages as part of the case history
